Overview

CSX is one of the largest rail-based freight transportation providers in North America. Since the early days of Format Agency, we’ve partnered with CSX as their trusted creative team, supporting a wide range of initiatives across departments, locations, and audiences.

What began as video production support has evolved into a long-term collaboration spanning video, photography, animation, graphic design, and internal communications. Today, Format Agency operates as an extension of CSX’s internal team, delivering consistent, high-quality creative across internal platforms, live events, and external-facing channels.

Challenge

Operating at a national scale, CSX required creative work that could adapt to active rail environments, distributed teams, and constant communication needs. Content needed to be safe, reliable, and flexible while remaining visually consistent across locations and initiatives.

From executive messaging and safety campaigns to recruiting, events, and internal broadcasts, CSX needed a creative partner who could travel, adapt quickly, and deliver content that works across both internal and external audiences.

Execution

Our team works on-site across CSX facilities nationwide, capturing video and photography for safety initiatives, training, leadership communications, recruiting, sustainability, and company culture.

We handle post-production, animation, and design entirely in-house, delivering assets optimized for internal platforms, social media, and external communications. We also manage CSX’s internal TV and broadcast systems, creating, scheduling, updating, and rotating content across facilities to ensure messaging stays current and aligned with company priorities.
